I obtained my MSc degree from the Universidade Federal da Paraiba (Joao Pessoa, Brazil) on Chemistry and Pharmacology of Natural Products. My work involved the isolation, structural characterization and pharmacological evaluation of indole alkaloids isolated from Strychnos species. I obtained a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland) working (under the supervision of Dr. David. G. Watson) on the profiling of flavonoids and their metabolites in biological fluids. My current reserach interests include drug metabolism, drug release studies from ophtalimc implants, forensic studies using NMR spectroscopy, herbal medicines quality assurance and phenolic profile of Brazilian wines.
